The Powder Room

Powder rooms are funny—they’re usually one of the smallest spaces in a house, but they’re the perfect place to take a design risk. We thought, “Why not go for something bold?” It’s a space guests see, and it’s nice when it has a little surprise-factor. We decided to wrap the walls in this mural-style wallpaper that has this really beautiful, painterly effect. Its reminiscent of clouds or waves—there’s something calming about it, but it still makes a statement.

The vanity was another piece we had fun designing. The stone has this gorgeous movement in it, which plays off the wallpaper in a way that feels natural but not too matchy. I remember looking at stone samples and thinking, “This one just feels right—it has that organic vibe I was after.”

This room has a more playful, feminine feel compared to some of the other spaces, and honestly, I think that’s what makes it fun. You walk in, and it’s unexpected—it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it still feels thoughtful. And those are the details I love—when a small space ends up having a big personality.
