The Wine Cellar

This space was a bit of a journey. I remember standing at the end of that long hallway during the early walkthroughs, thinking, 'We’ve got to do something with this—it just ends in a blank wall.' It felt like a missed opportunity. That’s when the idea of turning it into a display for the wine collection came up, and from there, it all started to click. We wanted to create something that wasn’t just storage, but a real focal point—something you’d notice the moment you looked down the hall.

Working on the custom display cabinet was one of those fun, collaborative moments. We spent a lot of time playing with proportions and how the lighting would work. I remember going back and forth on how bright it should be—we didn’t want it to feel like a spotlight, but we needed enough glow to highlight the bottles and give that warm, ambient feel at night. When we finally got it right, it just transformed the hallway.

What I think is really cool is how the actual wine storage is tucked away through the library. It’s like this little hidden detail—practical, but also kind of fun. You wouldn’t expect it unless you knew it was there.

Seeing it all finished now, the cabinet creates this soft glow that feels welcoming, especially in the evenings. It’s subtle but impactful—exactly what we hoped for. It’s one of those features that makes the house feel thoughtfully put together without being overdone.
