Desert Regency
La Quinta, California

Set in La Quinta, this residence offered an opportunity to reinterpret a Spanish Revival–inspired home through both architectural and decorative transformation.
The existing house, built during a wave of Spanish-influenced development across the Coachella Valley in the early 2000s, featured generous ceiling volumes and substantial timber detailing but a floor plan that limited the connection between the main living spaces. Our work began with an extensive reconfiguration of the interior architecture, opening the kitchen, dining, and living areas to create a more fluid and connected sequence of rooms while highlighting the dramatic wood ceilings and exposed beams.
While the architecture references the region’s Spanish heritage, the interior design reflects the client’s appreciation for more traditional and Regency-influenced furnishings. Rather than imposing a singular stylistic direction, the project embraces this dialogue. Existing pieces were thoughtfully incorporated alongside new elements, creating interiors that feel layered, collected, and personal.
A rich palette of blackened finishes, warm brass, and saturated jewel tones-including emerald and ruby- adds depth and contrast to the home’s architectural framework. The result is a distinctive blend of influences: a house rooted in desert architecture yet enriched by a more classical decorative sensibility.
